Q&A

I spent a large part of my day at the Japanese Consulate attending the JET Program
Q&A session, and it was really informative. They held different break away programs covering things like being a female on the program, budgeting your money, and traveling abroad. I want to go to Thailand where everything is supposedly really cheap. I also discovered that my suitcases can weigh seventy pounds a piece. Here are some things that weigh about that much:
1 bushel of corn
1 travel poker table
2 Advantage Gripware Sandbags
1 pitbull
70 lbs of coconut shavings

I'm also going to have to bring lots of slippers because of my large American feet.

Is there life on Mars?

Well, I'm back on top, sort of, and feeling pretty good. I found out that on my way to Tokyo next month, we get to stop in Detroit. I'm thinking a repeat of Detroit Rock City is in order.
I also received some information on my new city, Kurobe. What excites me more than anything are the numerous festivals and events they have here; there's at least thirty or so. My favorite is going to be the Kurobe River Fishing-by-Hand Event.

ap·pen·dec·to·my

So it turns out that the alien in my stomach was actually my inflamed appendix. Who knew? Don't worry, that freeloading bastard has been apprehended and brought to a swift justice.

E.T. get outta my duodenum

You know that movie with Sigourney Weaver in space and everyone is sitting around the table eating dinner and everything is fine and then an alien comes out of that dude's chest? So do I, which is how I know that the very same alien is living in my stomach.

You want some art? Hmmm?

These are a few pictures from my senior art show. I know some of you didn't get to come, so I'm bringing the show to you. If I could post a snobby dialogue about post modernism I would.

My new location

This is where I'm going to be in Japan.

http://kurobe.city.kurobe.toyama.jp/english/index_e.shtml

It's right near the coast and really pretty. What's coolest about the town is that it's sister city is Macon, Georgia. I can certainly see the correlation.

Screw you tax form 8802

Leave it to a tax form to make me question whether I am an alien, sole proprietor or just an unpatriotic loser. Seriously, I think I would understand these things better if they were in vulcan.
I'm really just typing because Christopher is hungry.

Getting ready to leave

Well, I'm getting ready to leave in about 7 weeks or so and things are moving along smoothly. I have to fill out some forms so I don't have to fork over money to the Japanese government, figure out some stuff on my busted laptop, and all the while try to learn a little Japanese. One of my "Learn Japanese Fast" c.d.s started out fairly innocent, but now I'm learning how to ask people if they want drinks and would they like to have them at my place. I'm beginning to think the c.d. was developed in conjunction with some seedy Japanese dudes with a not so hidden agenda.
I went out to dinner with some folks from the JET Program on Saturday who were way cool. They live in and around Atlanta.
I think it's funny how wherever I go anymore someone knows someone who lives in Japan. I guess that's a good sign.
